LANB Wins the 2007 New Mexico Ethics in Business Award
LANB is Recognized for High Standards and Exemplary Ethical Practices
LOS ALAMOS, N.M.—The Samaritan Counseling Center recognizes Los Alamos National
Bank (LANB) with the 2007 New Mexico Ethics in Business Award.
"In an era filled with examples and reports of corporate abuse, receiving
recognition as a business that demonstrates the high standards of ethical conduct
and social responsibility is truly an honor," said LANB chairman and CEO William Enloe.
Businesses, organizations and individuals must be nominated for the award. A
committee of business professionals selects companies that meet standards for
ethical conduct, integrity, social and civic responsibility. The nominees are
then analyzed by students at the Anderson School of Management at the University
of New Mexico, who make recommendations to the committee based on the following
criteria:
- New Mexico-centered efforts, or programs or significant commitment to business in New Mexico.
- Innovative and creative ethical approaches (internal to the organization or internally focused).
- Evidence of ethical behavior toward others (customers, employees, volunteers, community and the natural environment).
- An example of an ethical dilemma and how it was resolved.
- Effective, innovative partnering with other businesses, non-profits and government entities.
- The extent programs and company values are integrated into the business’s culture.
- The extent activities go beyond what is required by law or industry standards.
"We are very proud of this recognition and have long believed that our success will
always be a shadow of our organizations' character," said LANB president Steve Wells.
The Samaritan Counseling Center has hosted the New Mexico Ethics in Business Awards
since 2000 to foster a climate of ethical integrity in New Mexico. The program honors
organizations and individuals who promote ethical business conduct for the benefit of
the workplace, the marketplace, the environment and the community.
