FRIS is a system LANB uses which is offered by STAR, our ATM network provider, and it monitors your ATM or debit card transactions. It detects potentially fraudulent patterns that are inconsistent with your typical spending habits. Should this occur, our customers will receive a call from a STAR representative to verify the transaction(s) in question.

FRIS uses an automated system to call LANB customers whose transactions appear to be suspicious. If the call is answered the automated system transfers the call to a live operator. The operator will ask to speak with the customer who owns the card with the suspicious transactions. They will not speak with anyone else. The customer will only confirm if the transaction is valid or not (yes or no answer). No other information is requested from the customer.

If response is "no", the Star Transaction Review Analyst will continue go through recent transactions with the cardholder to determine last valid usage and the first instance of fraud. The analyst will also ask the cardholder to check if their card is in their personal possession. The analyst will advise the cardholder that their card is being blocked to prevent any further fraudulent activity from occurring. When applicable, they will also advise the cardholder to contact their financial institution for a replacement card.

When a message is left the customer will hear the following: "We wish to verify some recent transactions on your (debit/check) card with us. Would you please call our office as soon as possible at 1-800-327-8622? Our representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you. Thank You."
